Laura Dudas running for City Council in Innes Ward
Laura Dudas, longtime community volunteer and advocate, today announced her candidacy for City Councillor representing Innes Ward.
Laura has been a resident of Blackburn Hamlet since 2006 and has led the Blackburn Community Association as President for almost a decade.
"Innes Ward's priorities are my priorities. I want to know what is important to the ward so that I can truly reflect its needs," says Laura. "If I have the privilege of serving on council, I would be an advocate, a public servant, and a strong voice working to ensure that Innes Ward and all of Orléans continue to improve."
A tireless volunteer, a former journalist, and a communications professional with the City of Ottawa, Laura brings an in-depth knowledge of municipal issues and an understanding of how to get things done for communities and at City Hall.
Through Laura's deep commitment to the community, and energy and enthusiasm as a leader, she has worked closely with City staff, other community associations, east-end businesses, residents, arts and sports groups, and many volunteers to advocate for improvements that benefit Innes Ward, Orléans, and the entire city.
"Innes Ward needs to have an articulate and effective voice on City Council and I would be honoured to be that voice," says Laura. "I understand how to work collaboratively to achieve success and I am ready to serve."
Laura and her husband Mike have three children, Kayla, Cassandra and Matthias, a dog Harley, and a fish named Bubbles.
The municipal election will take place October 22, 2018 for the 2019-2022 term of City Council.
A launch gathering will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Blackburn Arms, 2586 Innes Road in Blackburn Hamlet. All are welcome.
